Zayndu secures £1.5m in funding to expand seed priming technology

Zayndu, a spinout from Loughborough University, has raised £1 million from Foresight Group as part of a £1.5 million funding round aimed at accelerating its growth. The company has developed a unique seed priming technology utilizing chemical-free cold plasma activated air, which enhances crop yields by making the seeds germinate faster and healthier. This technology eliminates the need for agricultural chemicals and has global applications across the seed production value chain. Since receiving an initial investment from Foresight in 2023, Zayndu has introduced its technology to the market, expanded its product range, and provided evidence of increased crop yields. The investment will further enhance Zayndu's commercial capabilities, aiming to increase recurring revenues and enhance the firm's growth prospects. Ralph Weir, CEO of Zayndu, emphasized the strategic alignment with Foresight, highlighting their mutual commitment to environmentally sustainable high-tech businesses. Foresight's investment manager Line Kristine Gauteplass reiterated their support, acknowledging Zayndu's position for scaling and the impact of its innovative technology on its expanding customer base.
