Xaga Surgical Secures SEK 3 Million Investment from Almi Invest

Almi Invest, Sweden's most active investor in startups, has invested 3 million Swedish kronor in the Swedish medical technology company Xaga Surgical. The investment is part of an 8 million kronor funding round that also includes Smile Capital and private investors. Xaga Surgical develops innovative medical needles designed to reduce infection risks and enhance cancer diagnostics. The company, founded in 2016 by urologist Andreas Forsvall, has patented a technology that reduces bacterial transfer during biopsies by 96%. This investment will help commercialize its technology, secure FDA approval, and enter the US market. The global market for medical needles faces significant challenges, with over 50 million people annually at risk of health issues due to needle infections, costing an estimated 80 billion USD. Xaga aims to meet this need and improve healthcare through its groundbreaking solutions.
