University of Lodz Unlocks Hidden Treasures with New Funding

The University of Lodz Library has secured funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as part of the 'Social Responsibility of Science II' programme. This funding will support the implementation of three significant cultural projects. The first project involves the selection and digitization of rare publications and illustrations published between 1579 and 1945, chosen for their historical and artistic value. These diverse collections include scientific, artistic, and literary works demonstrating various graphic and printing techniques. Another project, 'DIGITUS INDEX,' aims to develop and disseminate unique manuscript collections from the library, which hold national and European significance, through digitization and online metrics. Lastly, the third project focuses on digitizing around 700 doctoral dissertations in the humanities, preserving the contributions of notable researchers. These initiatives will ensure the protection of cultural heritage and make such collections more accessible to both academic researchers and the public.
