University of Lodz Achieves 4th Place in MINIATURA 8 Grants

The University of Lodz has been recognized with 25 MINIATURA 8 grants, ranking fourth among Polish research institutions behind Jagiellonian University (45 grants), Wrocław University of Technology (35 grants), and the University of Warsaw (32 grants). These grants are awarded by the National Science Centre and are intended for researchers who have recently obtained their PhDs and are yet to lead fully-funded projects. The goal of the MINIATURA grants is to give such researchers initial funding opportunities to gain experience in the grant system, paving the way to more significant research financing projects in the future. Researchers at the University of Lodz who received these grants are engaged in diverse and innovative projects across disciplines including education, biology, economics, environmental protection, sociology, and philology. Some of the notable projects include examining self-knowledge in education, directed evolution of enzymes, income distribution models, and the impact of generative AI. The grants are seen as stepping stones for early-career academics to develop further research ambitions on a national or international scale.
