Ulaanbaatar Flour Boosts Wheat Supply with ADB Loan
Deal News | May 08, 2025 | Asian Development Bank

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has facilitated a $10 million loan to Ulaanbaatar Flour Limited Liability Company (UBF) to stabilize Mongolia's wheat supply chain. This three-year financial assistance aims to support local wheat procurement, address the rising domestic demand for processed wheat flour, and empower smallholder and women-led farms. Ulaanbaatar Flour, a leading processor holding 30% of the market share, will utilize this funding as working capital to purchase wheat from 250 farming enterprises, promoting not only food security but also inclusive rural growth. Furthermore, a $500,000 technical assistance grant will enhance farmers' resilience through training programs focused on financial literacy and climate-adaptive practices. The initiative is part of ADB's broader $40 billion commitment to food security across Asia and the Pacific. UBF is part of the Tavan Bogd Group, a prominent business conglomerate in Mongolia, marking ADB's ongoing partnership with the group.
