Toshiba's Repair Deal for Bulgarian Hydro Plant

CMS has advised Toshiba International on a critical repair and rehabilitation agreement with the Bulgarian National Electricity Company regarding the Chaira Hydro Complex. This agreement focuses on the pumped-storage hydro power plant Chaira Unit 1, which is part of the significant Belmeken-Sestrimo-Chaira Hydropower Cascade. PSHPP Chaira is a key infrastructure asset, equipped with a substantial generating capacity of 864 megawatts and a pumping capacity of 788 megawatts. The plant initially started its operations with Units 1 and 2 in 1995, boasting the largest head for a single-stage pump turbine globally at the time. Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation, the equipment's original manufacturer and supplier, is responsible for the project’s technical documentation. CMS’s team, led by Managing Partner Kostadin Sirleshtov, includes counsel and associates specialized in such international strategic energy projects.
