Tony Gilbert Leads Strategic Transformation at BESA

The Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) has announced the appointment of Tony Gilbert as its first Chief Operating Officer, marking a significant transformation in the organization. Gilbert, who started full-time at the beginning of 2025, previously served as a consultant to BESA and has an extensive background in management consultancy. His career spans over 15 years at illumini consulting and 10 years as Group Technology Director at France Telecom Orange, along with experience in founding his own consultancy. His clients have included high-profile entities such as the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Authority, Ministry of Justice, Airbus, and Rolls-Royce. BESA's CEO, David Frise, hailed Gilbert's considerable experience in steering organizations through change. The appointment is part of a strategic effort to refocus BESA’s offerings amidst rapid technological advancements and growing emphasis on decarbonisation in the building engineering sector. The sector is facing numerous challenges, such as tough trading conditions and skills shortages, yet it presents opportunities through digital transformation.
