Tilbury Douglas becomes lead contractor for £100m project at Dorset County Hospital

Tilbury Douglas, a prominent UK-based construction and engineering firm, has been selected as the official contractor for the £100 million Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit project at Dorset County Hospital. This project, funded by the UK Government's New Hospital Programme and procured through the ProCure22 framework, signals a significant advancement for Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, with construction slated to commence in the spring of 2027 following the completion of preparatory works. The enhanced facilities will provide state-of-the-art treatment areas, including a rooftop helipad, dedicated spaces for major and minor injuries, a mental health facility, emergency pediatrics, 24 critical care beds, and a specialized ambulance arrivals area. Richard Boeg, the Managing Director for Building South and South Wales at Tilbury Douglas, emphasized the project's importance to the community, while Tristan Chapman, Programme Director at Dorset County Hospital, expressed enthusiasm about the milestone. The project is set to transform patient care and strengthen the hospital’s ability to offer vital services once it opens in 2027.
