Theker Secures History-Making Seed Round to Revolutionize AI Robotics

Theker, a Barcelona-based startup specializing in AI-driven robotics, has achieved a notable milestone by securing a record $21 million in seed funding — the largest in Spain's history. The funding round, indicative of significant investor confidence, was led by Kibo Ventures with contributions from Kfund's Leadwind fund and Inditex through Mundi Ventures. All initial investors of Theker, along with prominent business angels from the tech and industrial sectors, also participated. Founded by engineers Jiaqiang Ye Zhu and Carla Gómez Cano, Theker has developed a unique robotics technology equipped with a deep learning-based vision and control system. This allows their robots to function seamlessly in complex industrial environments without reprogramming. Their robotics-as-a-service model is designed to offer advanced automation solutions to industries like logistics, retail, and waste management, breaking traditional entry barriers. With the new funds, Theker aims to expand its production capabilities, grow its team, and position Barcelona as a global hub for robotics innovation. This strategy aligns with previous collaborations between Mundi Ventures and Inditex, which include investments in sustainability and innovative fiber technologies.
