The Exploration Company Scores $160 Million for European Space Capsule Ambitions

Founded by Helene Huby and a team of industry veterans, The Exploration Company (TEC), a rising space exploration endeavor, announced a successful Series B funding round, securing $160 million. This funding round was co-led by Balderton Capital and Plural, and it brings TEC’s total funding close to $230 million. This capital infusion will support the development of Nyx, a pioneering reusable and refillable spacecraft. TEC is striving to pioneer European leadership in the global space exploration arena by manufacturing logistical spacecraft intended to make space exploration more accessible and sustainable. Notably, TEC has already signed a prominent contract with the European Space Agency and ranked top in the European space capsule competition. The development will see TEC expanding its team and scaling up its operations, aiming for significant milestones over the next few years, including a maiden flight of the Nyx by 2028. The initiative emphasizes Europe's capacity to foster bold entrepreneurial ventures with significant backing from European investors, enhancing the continent's space sovereignty in a competitive global market.
