Tenstorrent Acquires Blue Cheetah, Boosting AI Chiplet Strategy

Tenstorrent, a Canadian AI chipmaker, has acquired Blue Cheetah Analog Design to integrate its chiplet interconnect IP and expertise into its own operations. This move enhances Tenstorrent's strategy to develop high-performance AI hardware by bringing analog and mixed-signal interconnect capabilities in-house, particularly valuable as chiplet architectures become more prominent in AI workloads. Blue Cheetah, founded in 2018 and led by Dr. Elad Alon, specializes in customizable interconnect IP compatible with major standards. The acquisition represents Tenstorrent's first purchase in the US semiconductor market, following a licensing agreement with Blue Cheetah. With backing from key investors like Eclipse Ventures, Samsung Catalyst Fund, and Hyundai Motor Group, Tenstorrent aims to lead in the modular chiplet architecture space, benefitting from reduced dependency on external vendors and improved time-to-market for new designs.
