Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) has made a strategic acquisition of the UK-based energy and utility investment platform, Transmission Investment (TI). TI is a key participant in the offshore transmission (OFTO) market, managing 11 OFTO assets valued at AED 15 billion ($4.08 billion) which connect offshore wind farms to the UK power grid. This acquisition represents TAQA's aim to enhance its offshore transmission and infrastructure capabilities, thereby facilitating growth into the European and other international markets. TI will now operate within TAQA Transmission, a new TAQA Group subsidiary focused on high voltage power and water transmission infrastructure development. Despite the significance of this transaction, the financial terms remain undisclosed. This deal follows a recent collaboration between TAQA Transmission and ADNOC to lay extensive cabling infrastructure as part of a multi-billion dollar initiative to power and decarbonize offshore energy operations.
