Talos Takes Over Coin Metrics in $100M Crypto Deal

New York-based Talos, a digital asset trading infrastructure developer founded by Wall Street veterans Anton Katz and Ethan Feldman, has acquired blockchain data provider Coin Metrics for over $100 million. Established in 2018, Talos aims to become a comprehensive service provider for institutional entities entering digital asset trading and portfolio management. Coin Metrics will bring expanded access to historical and on-chain data to Talos's offerings. Talos has secured substantial venture investment in the past, including notable contributions from Andreessen Horowitz and Fidelity's venture arms. With this acquisition, Talos intends to strengthen its platform for facilitating algorithmic trading for major financial firms and providing white-label solutions for sell-side companies. The acquisition was made without additional financing from Talos, as discussions with Coin Metrics had been ongoing for the past four months. Interest in digital assets continues to grow, expanding beyond conventional cryptocurrencies to encompass tokenized versions of traditional and private assets, indicating confidence in blockchain technology's role in the future financial markets.
