Supercritical Solutions, a London-based green hydrogen production firm, has completed a £14 million Series A investment round to pilot its unique electrolyser technology. The funding will also enhance its technology, scale operations and expand market reach. Co-led by Shell Ventures and Toyota Ventures, the round attracted follow-on investments from seed investors such as Lowercarbon Capital and Anglo American Platinum. Supercritical boasts world-leading efficiency and unmatched pressures in hydrogen generation, aligning perfectly with the needs of the chemicals and fuels sectors. The company aims to lower hydrogen production costs to rival fossil fuel production, propelling the shift from grey to green energy. CEO Matt Bird expressed confidence in overcoming industry challenges, highlighting a strong demand for their technology and an open waiting list for future stakeholders.
