Stockholm Exergi Secures Financing for Major Carbon Capture Facility

In a landmark project, Stockholm Exergi is set to build one of the world's largest carbon capture facilities with an investment of 13 billion SEK. White & Case LLP has facilitated the financing, securing long-term commitments for unsecured loans which guarantee the project's funding and provide additional working capital. The Beccs Stockholm, based at the bio-combined heat and power plant in Värtahamnen, will enhance existing sustainable electricity and district heating production. The project is expected to deliver considerable climate benefits by integrating carbon capture and storage. Owned by the City of Stockholm and European pension funds, Stockholm Exergi leads in sustainable solutions for heating, electricity, and cooling, aiming to become the EU's largest provider of negative emissions. The advisory team from White & Case included partners from both their London and Stockholm offices.
