Slate Asset Management Agrees to Acquire Sunbelt Portfolio for $226.5 Million

Slate Asset Management has announced an agreement to acquire a multifamily portfolio comprising six properties with 1,600 units in Sunbelt markets for $226.5 million. The acquisition encompasses locations in Florida, Georgia, and Arizona, aiming to capitalize on robust housing demand in these rapidly growing regions. Slate's partner and CIO, Peter Tsoulogiannis, emphasized the strategic acquisition's alignment with their philosophy of focusing on defensive real estate assets that promise significant cash flow due to below-replacement-cost purchases and under-market rent potential. The portfolio leverages the favorable supply-demand dynamics in the multifamily sector, driven by undersupply of new housing and growing demand for rental properties. King & Spalding provided legal advice, with deal closure expected by the end of July.
