SKIMS Acquires SKKN by Kim, Consolidating Beauty Ventures

SKIMS, a lifestyle brand co-founded by Kim Kardashian and Jens Grede, has acquired SKKN by Kim from Kim Kardashian and Coty. This strategic move integrates Kardashian's beauty NIL rights and ventures into the SKIMS brand, marking a significant expansion beyond its existing range of apparel. Established in 2019, SKIMS has become known for its inclusive apparel lines which encompass shapewear, intimates, loungewear, and more recently, activewear through a collaboration with Nike. By acquiring Kardashian's majority stake and Coty's minority shareholdings in SKKN, SKIMS plans to broaden its portfolio into the realms of beauty, skincare, and fragrance. The acquisition leverages Kardashian’s cosmetics heritage, notably her landmark KKW Beauty and award-winning KKW Fragrance lines, while promising to redefine the beauty sector with the same boldness SKIMS has applied to fashion. The SKIMS brand expects to launch products in these new categories by 2026, thus seeking to make an imprint on the beauty landscape analogous to its disruptive entry into the underserved apparel market.
