Siemens Energy has submitted a bid of 59 million Bahraini dinars ($157 million) for a 400kV substation project in Bahrain's Sitra Industrial Area. The project, tasked by the Bahrain Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), involves a comprehensive undertaking encompassing the design, manufacturing, supply, transportation, erection, testing, and commissioning of the substation. The scope also covers GIS, switchgear, control systems, telecom systems, and substation cabling along with civil works and related building services such as CCTV and Electronic Access Control. Siemens Energy was the only bidder for the project tender, which aligns with the planned Sitra Independent Water and Power Plant (IWPP). This development arrives amid ongoing efforts by the EWA to enhance Bahrain's infrastructure with projects that have drawn interest from various international developers. Previously, EWA had prequalified nine developers from diverse nations including Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Japan for the IWPP. The bid underscores Siemens Energy's strategic commitment to driving innovation and supporting developments in critical infrastructure across Bahrain.
