Sebastian Kot Wins Slaughter and May's 2025 Innovation Competition with AI Training Platform

Slaughter and May has announced the winners of its 2025 Student Innovation Competition, highlighting the talents and ingenuity of students in developing generative AI training programs for legal professionals. Sebastian Kot, an Engineering student from City, St George's University of London, won the top prize with his web-based legal AI skills training platform, which features personalized learning and AI-generated podcasts. He will receive a £1,000 prize and a summer work placement with Slaughter and May's Client and Practice Solutions team in 2025. Zahwa Asad Shaikh of SOAS University of London secured second place, showcasing a platform focused on ethics and AI in law. Third place was awarded to Thenushaa Ratnasapapathy of Queen Mary University of London for a creative video game targeting real-life AI use cases in law. The competition also acknowledged a highly commended entry from Henry Miller of Durham University. The submissions this year demonstrated the transformative potential of AI in legal practice, underlining the importance of technological innovation in the field.
