Seagreen Phase 1 Marks Milestone Acquisition in Offshore Transmission

CMS Law has advised a consortium that includes global infrastructure investor Equitix, and energy companies Kyuden International Corporation and Kyushu Electric Power, on the acquisition of the Seagreen Phase 1 offshore transmission assets from Seagreen Wind Energy Limited. Located off the Angus coast in Scotland, Seagreen Phase 1 is Scotland's largest and the world's deepest fixed-bottom offshore windfarm. The transaction includes subsea export cables, onshore export cables, an offshore substation, and an onshore substation, which Equitix and Kyuden Group will own, operate, and maintain for a 24-year period under a transmission license granted by Ofgem. This acquisition strengthens Equitix's role in the UK's renewable energy sector as part of the country's net-zero strategy.
