Scania Acquires Northvolt Systems' Industrial Division

Scania, the Swedish automotive giant, has completed its acquisition of Northvolt Systems’ Industrial Division assets. The division, known for developing battery systems for heavy industry and off-highway markets, was advised by Wardynski & Partners and Vinge during the transaction, while Wolf Theiss and Mannheimer Swartling counseled the sellers. As part of the deal, Scania acquired a production facility located in Gdansk, Poland, along with the transfer of the workforce under transfer of undertakings provisions, ensuring employment protection for the workers involved. This acquisition is aimed at enhancing Scania's capabilities in manufacturing battery modules and systems for applications in cargo handling, warehousing, construction, and mining sectors. The transaction involved legal counsels and attorneys from both advising firms who ensured the deal’s regulatory and logistical alignment.
