Sagard Launches Private Equity Fund for Canadian Investors

Sagard, a major player in the global alternative asset management arena, has launched Sagard Private Equity Strategies LP, a fund designed specifically for Canadian accredited investors. This evergreen fund is part of Sagard's efforts to democratize access to private equity investments, targeting a long-term annual net return between 14% and 18%. With the first closing capitalized at C$50 million, the fund is tailored to provide investors with exposure to a diversified portfolio that includes secondaries, co-investments, and primaries. Sagard's leadership asserts that the initiative is set to cater to the under-served individual investment market by granting them similar opportunities long enjoyed by institutional investors, such as pension funds. Managed by Sagard Private Equity Solutions, the fund will largely focus on high-quality mid-market managers, capitalizing on the depth of the private company universe. Subscription to the new fund will be available monthly with certain conditions on redemptions. The initiative marks a significant expansion of Sagard's capabilities following the recent introduction of their private credit fund, emphasizing Sagard's commitment to broadening investment horizons for Canadians.
