Rosenbaum Announces Retirement from Caltech Presidency

Thomas F. Rosenbaum, the current president of Caltech, has announced his decision to retire from his role at the end of the 2025–26 academic year. Rosenbaum, who has been at the helm since 2014, has been instrumental in sustaining and enhancing Caltech’s robust culture of research and innovation. His emphasis on a diverse and ambitious environment has facilitated key developments in areas such as neuroscience, AI, and sustainability, doubling the institution’s endowment and securing a record-breaking $3.4 billion through the 'Break Through' capital campaign. Rosenbaum’s tenure has also strengthened Caltech's role with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and has expanded student support systems. His leadership was acknowledged for advancing Caltech's scientific, educational, and community impact amidst challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The search for Rosenbaum's successor is slated to begin shortly, aiming to continue Caltech's upward trajectory.
