Riva Money Revolutionizes Cross-Border Payments with Blockchain

Riva Money, a new cross-border payments fintech founded by former Wise and Revolut executives Niklas Hoejman and Mahendra Katoch, has successfully raised $3 million (or £2.2 million) in its pre-seed investment round. Their innovative approach integrates blockchain technology, specifically through the use of stablecoins, to streamline international payments by reducing costs and settlement times. Riva's co-founders identified inefficiencies and lack of transparency in existing legacy systems from their previous experiences in fintech, which fueled their mission to provide faster, more efficient cross-border transactions. The investment round was led by Project A, which had recently raised a substantial €278M fund to back European tech ventures. As an emerging company, Riva Money aims to solve traditional payment barriers via a dual-rail system, offering a blend of blockchain and traditional transaction methods to optimize speed and cost-efficiency.
