Raeside Joins QBE as Underwriter to Strengthen Transactional Liability Team

QBE, a global insurance firm, has further strengthened its Warranty and Indemnity (W&I) offering by appointing Alec Raeside as an Underwriter in their transactional liability team, based in London. Raeside, an experienced corporate solicitor with a wealth of M&A and corporate transaction expertise, joins from the international law firm White & Case LLP. His training includes stints at Allen & Overy and Shearman LLP, and he qualified at Clifford Chance LLP in 2019. The appointment follows the recent introduction of QBEs W&I division to London in early 2023, aimed at providing protection for unknown breaches of target and seller representations in purchase agreements. Since its initiation, the division has expanded across Europe, covering countries like Italy, Germany, France, and Spain, focusing on sectors that include consumer goods, energy, financial services, healthcare, and more. Toria Lessman, QBE's global head of transactional liability, highlighted the organised team formation and the need for expertise to cater to the growing and increasingly complex demands of the M&A market.
