Quilt Health Secures $6M to Transform Sickle Cell Care

Quilt Health, a digital health enterprise focusing on the enhancement of treatment access for complex diseases, announced the completion of a $6 million seed funding round. MaC Venture Capital led the funding, with Underscore Ventures, Meridian Street Capital, BoxGroup, Watershed VC, and Coalition Operators participating. This new funding brings Quilt Health's total funding to $8 million. The company, founded with an emphasis on sickle cell disease, aims to broaden its focus to other complicated conditions such as hematologic, neurological, and cardiovascular disorders, thus bridging the gap between real-world care and clinical research. Despite progress in drug development, clinical trials face challenges related to outdated recruitment processes, exacerbated in rare disease research where patient pools are smaller and elusive, leading to high failure rates in reaching enrollment targets. Quilt Health's innovative technology aids clinical workflows by integrating multifarious data sources and utilizing AI to highlight significant patient characteristics and outcomes, complemented by patient engagement tools fostering connectivity and access to advanced treatments. Beyond the recent funding, Quilt Health formed a partnership with the National Alliance of Sickle Cell Centers (NASCC), aimed at constructing a national, patient-centric ecosystem to accelerate market readiness for life-saving treatments. The newly acquired funds will expedite product development, bolster R&D, and expand Quilt Health's workforce, with a particular emphasis on establishing partnerships within high-quality health systems in regions historically overlooked by life sciences investment.
