Qasa Appoints Maria Björkander as New CEO, Heralding Expansion Phase

Maria Björkander has been appointed the new CEO of Qasa, a leading proptech company in the Swedish rental market that is owned by Schibsted Marketplaces. She takes over from Fredrik Strömsten, who has moved to a new position at Sana. Björkander brings a wealth of experience in leading product organizations and has previously worked within the Schibsted Group, most recently at Volvo as a product manager. Her appointment comes as Qasa enjoys significant growth within the Swedish market, having established itself as the largest rental housing service. With plans to expand further, the company is preparing to enter their next growth phase, which includes extending its operations into Finland and Norway. Sister company Blocket and partnerships with marketplaces like Oikotie and Finn are part of their expansive strategy. Schibsted has been the majority owner since 2019 and continues to support Qasa’s trajectory in becoming a key player in international markets.
