Cordillera Investment Partners, a private equity firm based in San Francisco with assets under management totaling over US$1.6 billion, has invested US$10 million in the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO). The decision was significantly influenced by the PTO's diversified revenue model, which does not rely solely on media rights but includes mass participation and sponsorship avenues. This investment is intended to support PTO's growth initiatives amidst plans for an upcoming Series C funding round. Cordillera's co-founder and co-managing partner, Gus Araya, emphasized their strategy of seeking less crowded investment opportunities in emerging sports sectors.
