Ooredoo Group and the Iraqi Telecommunications and Post Company (ITPC) have entered into a Landing Party Agreement for the FIG subsea cable, marking a significant advancement in Iraq's digital infrastructure. This collaboration will position Iraq as a crucial transit hub for data traffic between Asia and Europe, enhancing the country's capability to meet the demands of businesses, hyperscalers, data centers, and telecom operators. The FIG cable, boasting a capacity of 720Tbps, is set to be the largest in the GCC and will connect all Gulf countries. This initiative is anticipated to drive Iraq's digital transformation, economic diversification, and innovation, while promoting long-term economic growth. Service is expected to commence in Q4 2027, contributing significantly to advancements in AI, Cloud, and IoT services.
