OCL Vision Gains Boost with Strategic Investment from BGF

Business Growth Fund (BGF) has finalized a substantial multimillion-pound investment in OCL Vision, a premium ophthalmology group. OCL Vision was established in 2018 by leading eye surgeons Ali Mearza, Allon Barsam, Romesh Angunawela, and later joined by Chien Wong. The company performs nearly 4,000 private procedures annually across its three sites. It plans further expansion across the UK, supported by the new funding to enhance marketing and sales. The company has shown double-digit patient growth and revenue in 2024, now staffed by 12 surgeons and 60 additional employees. OCL Vision provides elective and essential clinical procedures, and its quality is acknowledged, having won a Laing Buisson Award and being recognized by the Care Quality Commission. Led by new appointees CEO Nicholas Rudge, CFO Darren Millington, and Non-Executive Chair Suzanne Lawrence, the leadership is preparing to seize a significant market opportunity amidst trends in private medical insurance and self-pay markets. BGF’s involvement aims to leverage their expertise to support OCL Vision’s expansion strategy, led by their London investment team: Alistair Brew, Karolina Sokolowska, and Dylan Kaye.
