NRN Leads $67m Series A in Australia's Climate Tech Boom

Australia's National Renewable Network (NRN) has secured a $67.2 million Series A funding round, marking one of the largest investments in Australian climate technology. This funding includes both equity and debt and sees major investment from prominent climate technology investors such as Investible, Virescent Ventures, Electrifi Ventures, Ecotone Partners' Planet Fund, and a significant debt commitment from Infradebt managed funds including the Australian Ethical Infrastructure Debt Fund. The investment aligns with a growing demand in Australia for solar, battery, and Virtual Power Plant (VPP) solutions, intensified by government incentives targeting renewable energy. NRN's platform enables energy retailers to offer solar and battery systems without upfront fees, thus facilitating broader accessibility to renewable energy for households. The company has seen over a 600% increase in its network in the last 24 months and manages more than $12 million in renewable energy assets, with a plan to deploy an additional 40 megawatt hours of battery storage. The new funding is a strategic move to expand its national platform and enhance the integration of renewable energy resources within the energy market.
