Norges Bank's Mie Caroline Holstad Departs Amid Strategic Integration
People | Nov 18, 2024 | Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM)
Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) is set to integrate its Real Assets and Equities units in a strategic move aimed at strengthening the management across these asset classes. Despite these organizational adjustments, NBIM’s investment strategy will remain unchanged, continuing their active real estate investments and acquiring assets aligned with their strategy. This integration also brings together energy investors into a comprehensive team focused on both listed and unlisted renewable infrastructure opportunities. The ambition is for NBIM to become a global leader in energy investments. Coinciding with these changes is the departure of Mie Caroline Holstad, the Chief Investment Officer for Real Assets, who has been instrumental in developing NBIM’s real assets management, particularly in the consolidation of real estate and infrastructure initiatives since 2020. Under Holstad's leadership, NBIM has enhanced its real estate portfolio and committed 49.5 billion NOK in unlisted renewable infrastructure. The restructured unit, now called Active Strategies, will be led by Co-Chief Investment Officers Daniel Balthasar and Pedro Furtado Reis. Additional renaming efforts within the organization include transforming the Asset Strategies area to Market Strategies, overseen by Malin Norberg. These changes aim to better integrate and leverage competencies within the organization, with the effective date set as January 1, 2025.
