Nordic Semiconductor Acquires Neuton.AI to Strengthen Edge AI Capabilities

Nordic Semiconductor, a leader in wireless connectivity solutions, announced the acquisition of intellectual property and key assets of Neuton.AI, a pioneer in automated TinyML solutions for edge devices. The acquisition heralds a new era of efficient and easy-to-use machine learning on the edge, merging Nordic's market-leading ultra-low-power wireless SoC series nRF54 with Neuton's groundbreaking neural network framework. This collaboration allows developers to create high-performance AI-powered devices that are faster, smaller, and more energy-efficient. Neuton.AI's innovative platform produces models significantly smaller and faster than conventional methods, facilitating rapid deployment without requiring extensive data science expertise. This move positions Nordic Semiconductor to capitalize on an estimated $5.9 billion market for TinyML chips by 2030, expanding capabilities in predictive maintenance, smart health monitoring, process automation, gesture recognition, next-generation wearable technologies, and IoT devices. Financial terms were not disclosed, and regulatory approvals are pending for the transaction's completion.
