NeXtWind Achieves Major Expansion with Acquisition of 12 Wind Farms in Germany
Deal News | Jan 07, 2025 | Sandbrook Capital

NeXtWind, an emerging leader in renewable energy, particularly in repowering onshore wind farms, has made a significant acquisition of twelve wind farms across western, northern, and eastern Germany. This strategic move expands NeXtWind's total repowering capacity of renewable energy to 1.4 GW, potentially replacing the need for approximately 1.5 nuclear reactors. The transaction, facilitated by Augusta & Co, alongside legal advisors Watson Farley & Williams and AKD, financial and tax consultants PricewaterhouseCoopers, and several other advisors, was a share deal with Nadara, one of Europe’s largest independent power producers of onshore wind farms. This acquisition not only grows NeXtWind's portfolio from 160 to 230 wind turbines across 37 farms but also enhances their capacity to provide green electricity to over 1 million German households annually. The move aligns with NeXtWind's mission to build decentralized and digitalized energy systems that meet the growing demand for clean power and supports the global transition to a decarbonized economy. With Sandbrook Capital and other investors underlining its financial backbone, NeXtWind aims to reach a generation potential of 3,000 MW by 2028.
