Next Generation Robotics Secures €4.5 Million Funding for Rail Robotics Innovation

Next Generation Robotics (NGR), a spin-off from the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Tuscany, has successfully completed a €4.5 million Series A funding round. The fundraising was spearheaded by CDP Venture Capital SGR through the Digital Transition Fund, an initiative under the EU's NextGeneration EU, aimed at digitizing supply chains and SMEs. The Fondo ToscanaNext, managed by CDP and backed by Tuscany’s major banking foundations, was also involved. Other contributors included Cysero EuVeca by AVM SGR, RIF-T, Kilometro Rosso, and SIMEST, all supported by Pariter Robotics and RoboIT. NGR, in collaboration with Trenitalia, developed Argo, a robot equipped with AI capable of autonomously inspecting train undersides, enhancing maintenance efficiency and safety. Giovanna Dossena, from AVM SGR, highlighted the impact of digitized AI solutions on the rail sector’s innovation and Italy's growth.
