Net Zero Expands Residential Holdings with ZBI Acquisition

Global law firm White & Case LLP assisted Net Zero Properties, a Luxembourg-based residential real estate platform, in the acquisition and financing of a significant residential portfolio from the Zentral Boden Immobilien Group (ZBI). This acquisition, comprising approximately 3,300 housing units, increases Net Zero's overall portfolio to over 14,000 units spread across more than 70 locations in northern and western Germany. The strategic acquisition aims to refurbish these residences to achieve energy efficiency, aligning with Net Zero’s ambitious goal to expand its portfolio to 40,000 units by 2026. ZBI, acting as an asset and property manager for Union Investment, previously sold a larger portfolio to Net Zero in 2024. The deal was managed by White & Case's legal team led by partners Gernot Wagner and Sebastien Seele, with significant contributions from their Frankfurt and Berlin offices.
