MYDAWA Expands Pharmacy Network Across Uganda and Kenya
Deal News | Apr 30, 2025 | Investment Fund for Developing

MYDAWA, a leading pharmacy and telehealth provider in East Africa, is set to triple the number of its pharmacies in Uganda and Kenya, following a significant investment from the Danish Investment Fund for Developing Countries (IFU). The company will open 30 new pharmacies in Uganda and 10 in Kenya, alongside an expansion of its online services, aiming to reach 8.4 million patients annually by 2032. This expansion addresses major issues in healthcare accessibility and product certification in both countries. In particular, Uganda's pharmacy network is heavily centralized in Kampala, while Kenya struggles with uncertified healthcare products. MYDAWA, which already operates 21 physical and online pharmacies, is known for distributing high-quality certified products, including those from Novo Nordisk. Additionally, MYDAWA is noted for its female leadership, with women comprising over 66% of senior management and being instrumental in tackling health-related social stigmas in Kenya, such as those surrounding HIV.
