MDA: Pioneering Surgical Support with €3.3 Million Boost

Medical Decision Alliance (MDA), a healthcare start-up based in Leipzig, Germany, has successfully secured €3.3 million in seed funding. The funding round was led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) along with other private investors. MDA utilizes the expertise of experienced surgeons to develop AI-based support systems aimed at revolutionizing surgical procedures by enhancing robotic systems. Notably, MDA has already partnered with major medical technology firms to integrate its solutions into robotic surgical systems. The company offers a unique platform, Virtual Proctor, that allows for the digitization of surgical skills and knowledge, which can be shared globally to enhance the training and real-time support for surgical teams. Founders Dr. Gunter Trojandt, Annett Christ, and Daniel Bauer bring with them extensive experience from their prior venture, the Surgical Process Institute, which they successfully sold to Johnson & Johnson. HTGF, Germany's prominent early-stage investor, sees potential in MDA's capacity to create cross-clinic standards and improve patient care quality. The capital injection will be used to expand MDA’s team and foster further collaborations with clinics and medical organizations.
