Korkia Accelerates Renewable Expansion with Nefco's €5 Million Loan

In a significant financing agreement, Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (Nefco), a Nordic green financing company, has provided a €5 million loan to Korkia Oy, an international renewable energy firm headquartered in Finland. This funding will underpin the development and expansion of Korkia's pipeline of renewable energy projects, including solar energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and onshore wind projects, which have a combined capacity of 20 GW for global markets. This investment follows an earlier round from five years ago, aimed at expanding Korkia's solar energy management business and solar energy projects in Chile. Founded in 2006, Korkia has grown from an asset management firm to a renewable energy investment powerhouse, with operations in nine countries. The company employs about 50 energy and finance specialists and collaborates with 75 renewable energy professionals in several joint operations across the world. With Nefco's continued support, Korkia CEO Pauli Mäenpää aims to enhance Korkia's global reach and increase local impact by advancing renewable energy production in the form of solar power, battery storage solutions, and wind power.
