Kobo Ventures Launches Scala Fund to Boost Italian SMEs

Kobo Ventures, in cooperation with a Swiss Wealth Management group, has announced the launch of Scala, an ELTIF-compliant investment fund aimed at boosting Italian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with high growth potential. The fund has a target of raising 50 million euros and focuses predominately on technological innovation to stimulate success and development in SMEs. Scheduled to commence operations by mid-2025, Scala is expected to enhance the competitiveness and innovation among Italian SMEs by providing much-needed capital and expertise. The fund is structured as a Luxembourg Reserved Alternative Investment Fund (RAIF) and will allocate 70% of its resources to private equity, directly supporting growing enterprises, while the remaining 30% will support listed companies, offering tax benefits and long-term investment opportunities. The founders of Kobo Ventures, including Alessandro Tosi and others, highlight that many Italian SMEs, despite their solid business models, struggle to attract investment due to their smaller size. Scala aims to bridge this gap by offering a combination of capital, strategic support, and a global network of skilled managers. This initiative could catalyze significant improvements in growth opportunities for Italian SMEs, especially those with a focus on technology and business expansion.
