Karnova expands UK presence through Karnova Food Group acquisition

OSI Group, a significant player in the global meat processing sector, has strengthened its presence in the UK through the acquisition of the Karnova Food Group from the private-equity firm Endless. While specific financial details of the transaction, facilitated via OSI's UK unit, were not released, it marks a strategic expansion in the UK market. Karnova, established through the merging of Yorkshire Premier Meat and Smithfield Murray by Endless over 2022 and 2023, boasts a stellar reputation as a leading supplier of value-add protein ingredients. These provisions are mainly business-to-business, catering to diverse segments such as retail and foodservice manufacturers. Karnova's chairman, Di Walker, commends the strategic alignment with OSI, highlighting the extensive growth witnessed under Endless's stewardship. Katherine Haenelt, OSI UK's Managing Director, echoes these sentiments, predicting notable growth prospects for the amalgamated operations. Headquartered in Aurora, Illinois, OSI has an expansive reach with 67 manufacturing plants and 20,000+ employees across 16 countries, servicing clients in 77 nations. This acquisition follows OSI's prior purchase of the UK-based Flagship Europe from Flagship Food Group in 2017, emphasizing their commitment to broadening UK operations.
