KAPP Issues RFQ for 500MW Renewable Power Plant in Kuwait

The Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP), working alongside the Ministry of Electricity & Water & Renewable Energy (MEWRE) of Kuwait, has issued a request for qualification (RFQ) for a significant renewable energy venture. This endeavor, located in the Al Dibdibah Power and Al Shagaya Renewable Energy Phase III, Zone 2 Solar PV IPP project, involves a 500MW capacity power plant. The selected consortium will undertake extensive responsibilities, including financing, design, engineering, construction, as well as the operational aspects for a 30-year period under a power purchase agreement. The plant is strategically positioned in the Jahra Governorate, aiming to integrate into Kuwait's national grid. EY, DLA Piper, and DNV respectively serve as financial, legal, and technical advisors for this undertaking. Bids are due by July 24. This venture represents a milestone in Kuwait's public-private partnership strategy to enhance service value through private sector engagement.
