Investcorp Exits US Real Estate Assets Amid Economic Uncertainty
Deal News | May 29, 2025 | Zawya

Bahrain-based Investcorp Capital, listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), has successfully divested its US real estate assets, achieving a total exit value of $550 million for 12 residential multi-occupancy properties spanning five American states. Despite challenges posed by rising mortgage rates and economic uncertainties in the US housing market, Investcorp managed to sell its assets at a premium, underscoring the enduring attractiveness of the multifamily sector. Under the interim leadership of CEO Mohamed Aamer, Investcorp will continue to appraise opportunities in key target markets. The average occupancy rate for these properties is notably high at 94%, with locations in cities such as Atlanta, Philadelphia, Raleigh, St. Louis, and parts of Florida. Notably, the firm's recent transactions included the sale of a major apartment complex in Atlanta, which completed the firm's liquidation strategy in February 2025. Freddie Mac reports indicate a slight rise in mortgage rates, with the 30-year fixed rate mortgage recently averaging 6.86%, up from earlier in May but down from last year. Despite these fluctuations, the housing market still presents ample opportunities due to increased buyer inventory.
