Infomedia Acquires 50% of Intellegam, Bolstering Its Automotive AI Ambitions
Deal News | Feb 14, 2025 | PR Newswire Cision Infomedia
Infomedia Ltd, an Australian data and software services provider in the automotive industry, has announced a strategic move to strengthen its AI capabilities by acquiring a 50% stake in the European AI start-up, Intellegam GmbH. The deal, valued at approximately AUD 10 million, is structured as a combination of cash and equity payments spread over two years, with an immediate investment to support Intellegam's working capital. This acquisition aligns with Infomedia's strategy to integrate advanced AI technologies and enhance data-driven services, complementing its existing automotive products. Intellegam's proprietary generative AI technology, which has been adopted by two Chinese OEM brands in Europe, will be assimilated into Infomedia’s product suite, further empowering intelligent data solutions for automotive OEMS, dealers, and vehicle owners. Infomedia also reserves the right to acquire the remaining shares of Intellegam within five years, contingent on meeting financial and strategic objectives, thereby providing incentives for existing shareholders and ensuring Infomedia’s financial stake. The acquisition does not significantly impact the financial balance sheet for FY2025, underlining its strategic rather than immediate financial importance. The partnership is expected to redefine the customer experience by leveraging AI technologies to optimize data interpretation and operational efficiencies, thus providing a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving automotive sector. Infomedia CEO Jens Monsees and Intellegam CEO Tobias Hetfleisch expressed enthusiasm over the partnership's potential to address industry challenges through innovative data solutions. A webinar for investors is scheduled, highlighting the strategic impetus and opportunities stemming from this acquisition.
