Inephany: AI Startup by Ex-Apple Engineer Secures £1.7M for LLM Training

Inephany, a UK-based AI optimization startup founded by former Apple engineer John Torr, has successfully raised £1.7 million. The company aims to lower the costs of training large language models (LLMs) by offering an efficient alternative to current training methods, which are considered highly resource-intensive. The funding round was led by Amadeus Capital Partners, with additional support from Sure Valley Ventures and noted Siri co-developer, Prof Steve Young. The startup is initially focusing on improving the efficiency of LLMs and plans to extend its methodologies across the entire AI industry. Inephany envisions its technology drastically cutting down both the cost and time needed for training state-of-the-art models, thereby contributing significantly to advancements in AI applications like healthcare, weather prediction, and more.
