Ignite Power to Acquire ENGIE Energy Access in Landmark Deal

Ignite Power, an Abu Dhabi-based leader in distributed renewable energy solutions, has announced the signing of a Share Purchase Agreement to acquire 100% of ENGIE Energy Access, one of Africa’s major energy providers. The acquisition will lead to the creation of Africa’s largest provider of distributed renewable energy solutions, branded as Ignite Energy Access. This new entity will operate across 14 African countries, providing sustainable energy solutions to more than 15 million people. The transaction, pending regulatory and antitrust approvals, marks a significant expansion for Ignite Power, more than doubling its footprint in Africa and reinforcing its presence in the continent’s DRE sector. This strategic move aligns with Ignite Power’s goal to provide affordable and sustainable energy to 100 million people by 2030, leveraging ENGIE Energy Access’s sizable footprint and operational capabilities. This acquisition also underscores Ignite’s continued growth strategy, having secured additional funding from Afrigreen to support its solar projects and further extending its impact in the energy sector across Africa.
