Investment company Northern Gritstone has announced the appointment of Eve Howarth as co-investor and capital manager. Founded in 2020, the firm focuses on science and technology-enabled businesses in Northern England and is chaired by Lord Jim O'Neill. In its first four years, Northern Gritstone has made 30 investments in early-stage companies. Howarth joins from Lazard, where she gained experience with significant financial ventures, including Assura's £250m joint venture and a £312m capital raise for Northern Gritstone. With a capital-raising background working on scaleups and joint ventures with some of the UK’s largest pension funds, Howarth is expected to be a key asset in Northern Gritstone's mission to support and grow ambitious science and deep tech companies in the North of England.
