Hessinger Named as AMPTP’s New Leader Amid Union Talks

Greg Hessinger has been appointed as the new president of the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers (AMPTP), set to take over from the retiring Carol Lombardini. With a background that includes roles as Director of Labor Relations for CBS and CEO of the Screen Actors Guild, Hessinger brings extensive experience to the role. His strategic appointment comes as the industry prepares for the next round of negotiations with major Hollywood guilds, following significant industry shifts and the resolution of long-standing strikes in 2023. The new president aims to foster unity and create opportunities in a rapidly changing landscape. While artificial intelligence and streaming are on the discussion docket, currently topping the agenda are concerns about jobs and production levels, which have been impacted over recent years. His leadership is anticipated to guide AMPTP through crucial negotiations involving the Directors Guild of America, Writers Guild of America, and SAG-AFTRA. His former role at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP will be filled by Yakub Hazzard, maintaining an influential legal connection.
