HD Hyundai Oilbank Acquires All Shares of HD Hyundai Cosmo

HD Hyundai Oilbank has completed the acquisition of all shares in its subsidiary, HD Hyundai Cosmo, from Japan's Cosmo Oil. This transaction marks a strategic consolidation in HD Hyundai Oilbank's operations, particularly in the petrochemical sector. Initially, both HD Hyundai Oilbank and Cosmo Oil held a 50% stake in the joint venture, but with this agreement, HD Hyundai Oilbank will fully integrate the production of basic petrochemical raw materials, like paraxylene (PX), under its umbrella. The acquisition aims to streamline operations and enhance the integration of refining and petrochemical processes, potentially boosting operational efficiency and market competitiveness for HD Hyundai Oilbank, which is a significant player in South Korea's energy sector. The companies also signed a Memorandum of Understanding for future collaboration in areas such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), circular naphtha, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).
