Gestcompost Gains Partners Group Investment Boost

Ropes & Gray has provided legal advisory services to Partners Group, a global leader in private market investments, for their €120 million investment to obtain a significant minority stake in Gestcompost, Spain’s largest organic waste treatment manager. Partners Group is acting on behalf of its clients as a cornerstone investor in a continuation fund that will be managed by Suma Capital, the current owner. Gestcompost, founded in 2003, specializes in processing various forms of organic waste to produce compost or biogas. This strategic partnership is driven by several thematic growth factors, including rising landfill costs, regulatory changes in Spain, and broad energy transition targets emphasizing biomethane. Through its entrepreneurial governance model, Partners Group will support Gestcompost and Suma Capital in executing initiatives aimed at increasing waste volumes, acquiring new biomethane plants, and enhancing operational efficiencies. The advisory team at Ropes & Gray was led by asset management partners with contributions from experts in tax and litigation.
